Wild Dog – Just a Dull Bark!!!

Ashishor Solomon, the director debuts with Wild Dog alias Nagarjuna who is known for the  execution of his operations, is a National Intelligence Officer who gets on to the never ending mission that Wild Dog is, manifesting it to just a dull bark.

Film is inspired by the true events and it does showcases that well creating the urgency, but the failure of the urgency actually makes it look real stretched. The film editing is the cause for not letting Wild Dog making an impact the opening scene does.

The film opens real well, sitting at home when one can feel that thud, I wonder what a cinematic experience it would have been. Alas, that was the only scene that leaves an impression, rest is just another chase story with few end credits rolling from the History of Blasts making you feel for the film. The production is top notch and so is the cinematography.

Nagarjuna sets the context right living his character of Vijay Varma alias Wild Dog with no nonsense stuff. The good thing is film resists itself from unnecessary songs and side comedy keeping the interest high. Nagarjuna holds the depth of his character playing the right age and succeeds to hold your attention throughout, he is suave, confident and agile. Paired with Dia Mirza, who looks amazing but alas has nothing more to do, the underlayer story is lost in just one of those bombs and lacks to raise any empathy for that. Atul Kulkarni is decent.

It is the lame execution that fails us to make believe the film is based on real events looking the Wild Dog shooting terrorists left, right and center without upholding any arrests for interrogation, even when one of them asks them to arrest him, agrees to surrender, the Wild Dog bites him too. This is where the thriller that is supposed to be real falls absolutely into the fantasy world.

His team, though decently cast, lacks any covalent bond the team may reflect. Saiyami Kher to make us believe she is commented that she looks hot by the Nepali Cop, falls real cheesy. Saiyami Kher thankfully has more to do than just look beautiful and though she does the action scenes well, but the action direction class here is, oops pure old fashioned south cinema. Jumping from the car, shooting like taking catch on the no ball. The chase is for Khalid played by Bilal Hossein, who is on the run planting several blasts on our home ground, but the chase looks real childish. Plus what you would expect from an antagonist to deliver and be a tough cookie to crack, this one other than the run has no role to play. One of the reasons, wild dog fails to impress. When you see his people producing bird sounds giving signals of the Wild Dog presence, is all time low, by then you have come far to leave the film.

Wild Dog, you can skip onto something else, than watch just a dull bark.
