Maidaan – Jaw Dropping!!!
Amit Sharma The Director brings in a Sports Drama like never before. Maidaan strikes the Goal with Panache. The Sports Drama that brings Syed Abdul Rahim back to the Glory, the pioneering football coach who made India Proud like no one before or after.

A former Indian football player Fortunato Franco said about “Rahim Saab”; With him he took Indian Football to the grave. And with the film “Maidaan” – Director Amit Sharma brings him out of the grave for us to experience the History on celluloid like never before. Giving us a sports biopic to cherish forever. Syed Abdul Rahim’s story, his glory, giving India a Goal to continue the legacy by giving many aspirants the strength and vigor to make India Proud. For now, Director Amit Ravindra Sharma take a bow for making India Proud with your craft and giving us a film that will go down in the History for its craft.

Ajay Devgn as Syed Abdul Rahim gets into the skin of the character, adding a role that will go long in his filmography and will always be remembered for the soul he plays as “Rahim Saab”. Ajay Devgn as football coach is believable, his eyes speak more than his lines, even his hiccups are believable and the agony that comes with it, reaches you. The film toggles between the rock bottom depressive tone to the soul lifting mode, all this with the right sensitivity, without making you sulk in your seat. Before you reach there, the film has a brilliant background score that simply does wonders to make “Maidaan” what it is. Besides, the way Director has shot the football scenes they leave you awestruck giving you an absolutely jaw dropping cinematic experience and you would know why the film is titled Maidaan, that’s exactly the auditorium converts into, audience hooting, cheering, and clapping like never seen before in recent times in a cinema hall. Simply Magical.

Tushar Kanti Ray’s cinematography is brilliant and brings the era back giving us a wholistic experience. Fyodar Lyass is responsible for the cinematography done on ground for the sports, he is an award-winning Cinematographer from Russia. The makers have not left any stone unturned to make Maidaan a brilliant cinematic experience. From the technical crew to the cast, Maidaan is top notch. Music is by our in-house maestro A R Rahman and plays a key role in keeping the emotion intact.

The live commentary of the match by Vijay Maurya and Abhilash Thapliyal in the film is brilliant and well written. The Director captures the essence well, how in back old days people stayed glued to the radio and how commentators made them visualize with their commentary on what’s happening on ground. The visual medium we see at ease, is so luxury. The essence and significance of running commentary is well captured. As the director showcases us most of the times, the commentators and family shots while the match is on. The detailing of work is terrific here. Though Maidaan could have been a little shorter nevertheless, the experience it brings with its storytelling is a must experience. The team that plays football too, each one is in the skin of the character displaying the right emotion as needed. The team dynamics aren’t as humorous as Chak De but that’s also what differs Maidaan, the tone.

Maidaan is what ChakDe was, a Must Watch. Sports biopic are such that they look like a template, but the game is different, team is different, Director is different but the emotion of watching India leading to its glory is One. Maidaan is unicorn in its field. A jaw-dropping film experience.
