The director Bipin Nadkarni rightly lifts the story with a great cinematography by Amalendu Chaudhary. Some of the frames are simply in the harmony of the story telling and rightly elevates the film watching experience. A story so simple yet powerful echoing the importance of relationship, integrity and sacrifice. It is the story that is Hero here and the style of execution, Darbaan comes as a very honest film, the only actor you wanna see more is Sharad Kelkar, with his minimal screen presence, he leaves a dashing impression in his first scene with the right humble charm. The film has a special appearance by Rasika Duggal, and in a little role, she carries a soul of the character really well.

The film belongs to Raicharan essayed by Sharib Hashmi who is a great actor and does absolute justice to his character and shines with his sheer performance. Speaking through the eyes straight into the heart, he succeeds to take you through the journey of Raicharan through his eyes and heartfelt emotions. Rightly essaying the film’s opening quote “Guilt is never to be doubted” indeed Raicharan’s hovering guilt helps him achieve the great gesture of humanity, sacrifice.

It is very rare these days, that films end with quite a “Moral of a Story” Darbaan had to, since it comes from the inspiration of Rabindranath Tagore rightly paced at 128 minutes.

It is the gate to the cinematic storytelling  you must watch.
