Bloodshot: Nonsense Shot !!!
Director David S. F. Wilson in his feature directional debut brings you a film based on the bestselling comic book starring Vin Diesel stars as Ray Garrison, a soldier recently killed in action and brought back to life as the superhero ‘Bloodshot’.
The movie follows a very thin story and is majorly dependent on the action that follows. The slow-motion shots are the highlights you get to witness in the action filled film.
The character played by Vin Diesel is no different from the characters he has played in the past. The resemblance between “Dominic Toretto” from ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise and “Ray Garrison” is uncanny. One can find so many similarities between the two characters and that is very lazy acting by Vin Diesel.
The special effects, the CGI are excellent, and the action sequences are good with an original flavour due to their unique superhuman abilities, but there is a very evident lack of acting. The movie looked like every other movie with the concept of an ‘exo-skeleton’ or ‘human enhancement’. ‘Nano-Tech’ has become so common in the Hollywood industry that writers can be a lot more creative.
Vin Diesel playing “Ray Garrison” is an elite soldier who is brought back to life after dying in the line of duty with some amazing body enhancements. Remembering that his wife was killed right in front of him, he goes out on a solo mission to hunt the killer of his wife and while doing so discovers a lot of truth.
The script is a little biased towards the protagonist of the movie and doesn’t provide other actors as much screen time as Vin Diesel. Yet, actors like Lamorne Morris as “Wilfred Wigans” steals the show with his on-point comic timing and his remarkable performance.
After the first suspense that is revealed in the first forty minutes of the movie, the movie becomes very predictable and the audience gets to witness the lazy writing.
The film would have worked perfectly fine for everyone if everyone watching the movie was a fifteen-year-old boy. As a remake of a comic, the movie comes off as a disappointment. At times the movie seems lengthy and takes so much time to explain not so complex plots.
Verdict: Tin **
