O My God2 – Spectacular!!!

The Director Amit Rai hits the ball out of the park. The franchise continues to strike the right chord with the genre it is. OMG2 touch bases upon the subject many would shy upon, the makers deal with the subject with finesse, the script subtly shifts its tone from comedy to drama and vice a versa keeping it high on entertainment without losing the grip on its subject. Content and Cast is cherry on the cake. Pankaj Tripathi Versus Yami Gautam comes as a brilliant courtroom drama with Akshay Kumar breaks in between that doesn’t disappoint.

O my God 2 – set in the Malakal City, is yet another chronicle of Kantibai who is dealing with a delicate situation that requires courage, determination, patience and above all knowledge to win it all. Pankaj Tripathi makes Kantibai shine with his stellar performance, he not only comes as heartwarming personality, his smart traits land straight into the heart.  Kanti is a staunch devotee of Lord shiva, a simple man who sets the nation on fire questioning its education system and emphasizing the significance of sex education. The screenplay engages you, making you participate in full throttle letting you brainstorm the ideologies they put across elevating your thoughts. This is where Cinema takes responsibility to convey a message without being preachy and keeps its perspective not forgetting that they are here to entertain. And OMG2 primarily entertains. So much so that you hear the Lord singing a song from Gadar, cracking the audience with sheer amusement.

The performances are outstanding, Pankaj Tripathi steals the show and without Yami’s stellar performance this wouldn’t have been possible. They both together bring the house down, making it look like a game of chess, where each one is trying to take the other down with an argument that is not for the sake but keeping the point strong, navigating you through the perspectives through your aptitude. Besides you have Pawan Malhotra as Judge who balances his act out with finesse and has its own element of fun that makes you sit through his court at comfort enjoying the show. The support cast is pitch perfect blending into the scheme of things aptly. Arun Govil, Govind Namdeo, Brijendra Kala, Simmran Sharma they all add more meat to the matter, making OMG2 a brilliant performance film. Akshay Kumar brings his swag as one of the messengers of Lord Shiva essaying the role well, he doesn’t disappoint. The songs at few junctions are something that makers could have given away, seem they were kept only to have Akshay Kumar more screen presence considering it is Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam who lead all the way. Nevertheless, Akshay’s Character is the needed catalyst to bring the right penetration to the subject.

OMG2’s magic lies in its writing, hats off to Rajveer Ahuja’s dialogues, Chandra Prakash Dwivedi and the writer director Amit Rai for pulling this well. And the actors who flesh out their characters so strongly giving you an immersive entertaining experience cinema is. OMG2 suffered from the side effects of outrage against the poorly made film Adipurush, censor directing good numbers of cuts, despite all these tailored changes, glad to see the film stands out so bright.

If Communication is the key, language is the source. OMG2 reflects this brilliantly in their writing and performances.
