Dreamgirl2 – The Laughter Marathon Continues…

Ayushmann Khurrana is an actor with Midas touch makes Pooja glitter with his smile and mannerisms leaving no room for boredom yet again. His voice modulation is Cherry on the cake making Pooja everyone’s fairy, evolves as a Dreamgirl to many,  with more than 50% of his dialogues in feminine voice he showcases his versatility at par. Besides, Dreamgirl would be the only genre where an actor essays Hero and Heroine both, Ananya Pandey is just technical to fill in the blanks. Has little to do in a film that is full of comic artists making a laugh riot.

If Ayushmann is the body of Dreamgirl; soul is the writer/director Raaj Shaandilyaa, along with Naresh. Dreamgirl2 is commendable in its writing. With the hilarious one liners and putting them all together Dreamgirl2 succeeds to create a laughter marathon yet again. Afterall the director has the history of delivering great laughter’s at our homes. He has written scripts for popular comedy series Comedy Circus and The Kapil Sharma Show holding his name in Limca book of records & there is a gag on Kapil too that is nicely integrated.

Ayushman khurrana toggles between Pooja & Karm, his journey from Karm to Pooja and making so many woo over his oomph is well integrated. It takes guts to present one’s feminine side this loud for a role to entertain. Ayushman mostly gets her mannerism’s right and makes you believe in his craft. Almost 2 songs where he dances as a lady making himself a leading lady as the leading lady has no full song or duet with the actor considering Ayushman plays both actor and actress too, leaving no room for Ananya Pandey and we aren’t complaining. Ayushman rules the roost, tickling your funny bones leading the marathon with several followers giving their bit of side kick.

Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Asrani, Rajpal Yadav, Vijay Raaz, Seema Pahwa, Manjot Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Manoj Joshi, Ranjan Raj the list is endless with each actor giving their soul and skin to the character running along Dreamgirl makes this ride hilarious. From a Dance Bar to a Psychiatrist to a wife, Pooja is brilliant to watch and does a great job yet again.

Annu Kapoor comes as a great entertainer, his lines, his dialogue delivery, his act everything is class apart. He is picture perfect and so Vijay Raaz, it is indeed great to see this line-up of cast putting it all together a great show. Vijay Raaz too is a show stealer. The camaraderie between Monjot singh and Ayushmann is good too. Ananya Pandey continues to be a prop, a filler in the name of the Heroine as Ayushman does that part too.

The songs this time aren’t that great unlike the earlier run. Dil ka telephone brings the nostalgic trademark nicely, Radhey Radhey was a great hit in the last run, the introductory song where Ananya gets to shake a leg a bit, jagrata song is just about ok. The climax song is well integrated to take the narrative ahead and they end up with the soulful writing, stealing the show was the line on “Muje Laga” allowing you to introspect the fall and expectations of your relationships. Karm and Pooja both strikes the right chord of your heart.

The film makes a point on relationships this time that echoes at a high note towards the end of the film. All this heavy emotion comes  quite subtly without leaving the comic track. Every third minute of the film you will laugh out loud. The director’s presentation is commendable.

Dreamgirl2 continues to be a good laughter marathon.
