Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Luv Ranjan
Entertainment , Romance
The Director Luv Ranjan does it again. Faces change but the characters are the very much from the universe he has created and we aren’t complaining. It has just gone better. With Tu Joothi Main Makkar he completes the conflict giving it a family closure bringing in a classic climax that is seen umpteen times yet he makes it interesting with his signature touch.
Ranbir and Shraddha Kapoor deliver their best. As Mickey and Tinni they ring in a fresh camaraderie with a dash of face off topped up with the Luv Ranjan Drama they set the ball rolling soon when the cupid strikes. Film is an absolute entertainer having it all good looking cast, great support cast, good music and above all a brilliant script. Writing is the magic here, the conflicts are real and there is a lot to relate for the GenZ seeking nuclear families. After Sooraj Barjatya, Luv Ranjan is out here to instil in his audience the importance of the family living together so much so he is conscious of the source from where the love flows. Hence, he captures the essence right and all packaged right.
The confrontation scene towards the end between Mickey and Tinni makes Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar into a cinema that matters. It takes a leap from the ordinary rom com pushing its audience to ponder on the thoughts what love truly is, what its source and how only it could get better, all this without being preachy under a great comic tone. Shraddha Kapoor’s character Tinni is clear how she wants to navigate her married life on the nuclear path with the good reasoning defining keeping her character strong. While Ranbir Kapoor’s character Mickey has enough clarity to let go off his love but not the source of the love, putting his family first. The conflict is definitely real and that when TJMM hits the right chord with its audience entertaining with full throttle. The film being a Luv Ranjan film, it has a marathon on Monologues by almost all the characters that keeps you hooked to keep up the pace making it interesting. So much so that we now have one more universe of Luv Ranjan from where we see Sonu Sweety Mickey Tinni meeting. Top of that they very smartly bring the famous kartik’s monologue to a full circle making you live the Pyar Ka Punchnama moment. The writers have full marks here for brining all this together with finesse. And so do all the actors.
It was great to watch Standup Comedian Anubhav Singh Bassi as Dabbas bringing in the right balance without making look anything over the board. Monica Chaudhary compliments him well in her little role. Treat to watch is Dimple Kapadia, as Ranbir Kapoors mother, she is brilliant and brings in the nuances so right that you fall in love with her in spite of her being loud over the top with at her pitch and tight slaps. Boney Kapoor is literally cute as his father, reminded me of the character Mini-me from Austin Powers. His little role, keeps a long smile on your face.
Pritam’s music is brilliant all the songs land well without taking a detour from the plot. Makers keep you brilliantly engaged, entertained with their hilarious treatment along with two special cameos. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar is a rare balanced film you shouldn’t miss.
