Jubilee – First things first – Take a Bow!!!
For beautifully taking us to the era while Cinema was still taking baby steps and how it has grown to a full-blown OTT show with Vikramaditya Motwane’s Jubilee. Yes, though the format is series -series, Jubilee is no less than a film; it’s a 10-hour long celebration of the golden era of cinema you don’t want to miss.
Vikramaditya Motwane as a director has a vision that just not captures the era, he makes you live it. I’ve not come across a series this pitch perfect giving cliffhanger a miss, leaving your quest satiated with a closure; at the same time leaving you awestruck with the originality Jubilee brings in on the platter with its climax. Scoring high on each aspect of the film making. From Cinematography to Choreography, Art design to Costume design, Sharp Performances to Crisp Editing, Original music to Background Score, creating very much original music than relying on classics to take you to the era. The makers chose to create and what a creation.
Jubilee is a story set in the 1940’s -1950’s era of Bombay Film Industry where a studio is looking for an actor to lead their upcoming film and there is a theater actor Jamshed Khan essayed by Nandish Singh, the chosen one to play the lead. Studio led by Roy essayed by Prasenjit Chatterjee, he has already christened the actors name to be “Madan Kumar” and the chase begins as there is a studio projector boy who aspires to be an actor too, essayed brilliantly by Aparshakti Khurrana. Aditi Rao Hydari plays Sumitra Kumari an actress with her performances apar has a key role to play at Roy Talkies falls for Madan Kumar’s charm and the story spins with the series of events intertwined including the journey of Jay & Nilofer, played by Sidhant Gupta and Wamiqa Gabbi respectively.
By definition, a jubilee is a particular anniversary of an event, this Jubilee has been definitely an anniversary celebration of the era gone by and the makers simply ring in this event with a beautiful symphony of artists blending their craft giving you a masterpiece you don’t want to miss it. Plus giving it rise to stars that are going to celebrate their Jubilee Craft throughout their lifetime. Be it Aparshakti Khurrana, Wamiqa Gabbi, Aditi Rao Hydari , Prosenjit Chatterjee or Ram Kapoor. Plus, the support cast so brilliant that it was a pleasure seeing Arun Govil in such a great role. After playing Lord Ram probably this is the role he will be remembered for, as Jay Khanna’s father, as that is going to be the legacy of Sidhant Gupta who plays Jay Khanna in Jubilee.
Like A child gives birth to a mother, Jay Khanna gives a birth to a superstar Sidhant Gupta has in it, with his role in Jubilee he steals your heart and holds it too brilliantly. With each nuance he comes closer to your soul, drawing you closer with not just his charm with his vulnerabilities too, his flaws his successes, his ethos of doing the right action, making you fall in love with the character at display.
Vikramaditya Motwane creates an epic in the days where content is parched making a symphony of artists with love coming together to create the Jubilee and it is for us to celebrate.
Simply do not miss.
