Bandish Bandits – CLASSIC MASTERPIECE !!!
Bandish Bandits steals the heart from the word go and immerses you deep into the Indian Classical Music, mesmerizing you from the first episode itself. It is one of its kind web-series that is Musical Magical and super rich in its content. Even though it still follows the format of unfolding the story as we go ahead keeping you glued like any web-series, but it stands CLASS APART in its execution, performance and technicalities too. Shankar Ehsaan Loy Take a BOW, the soul of the series is Music and the body of actors carry it to the brilliance Bandish Bandits is. The writer Amritpal Singh Bindra and director Anand Tiwari, Bandish Bandits will have a lot of repeat value unlike any other series, as it has a SOUL, Indian Classic music that roars making Bandish Bandits simply a Classic.
Ritwik Bhowmik as Radhe Rathore is the soul of the series. A character that brings so much on the platform with his finesse acting and vocals, must have gone into a deep vocal training bringing each musical act to this finesse is commendable. His simplicity comes as a fresh charm and makes you root for his character, Rathe Rathore firmly. Tamanna a pop star, his love interest, a role essayed by Shreya Chaudhary compliments him well. The two are poles apart yet they come along in their journey of music, discovering each other and bringing a chemistry alive on screen. Her character too unfolds her journey at home, unwinding the layers of her own self, she comes as a great catalyst in the journey of Radhe.
Sheeba Chadha plays a central character too along with Naseeruddin Shah. She brings a lot on the platter, the sacrifices of Indian women, the so called Maan-Maryaada’s of Gharana which may sound alien to the millennials, the story reflects it at brilliance and the actor she is, adds a lot of value to the plot. Naseeruddin Shah leads the Gharana, the Rathore royalty, yet is a Man of faults, but his love for his Music is utmost and the plot holds the music at top priority. His character has the nuances one would love to watch, he is the actor of sheer brilliance, give him anything and he brings on the platter with no faults. A character well-written. Atul Kulkarni has got a meaty role and he delivers, if writing is good and you have great actors to work with, you churn out a classic.
Other supporting actors who steal the hearts are friends of Tamanna & Ritwik, Kunal Roy Kapur and Rahul Kumar as Arghya and Kabir respectively. Their lines are some of the best comic punches the series has to offer. And other Rathore sons Rajesh Tailang and Amit Mistry perform in their skin of characters Rajendra and Devendra respectively portraying their absolute helplessness in the situations they are in, giving narrative a certain completeness.
It is Amritpal’s elaborated screenplay along with the great cinematography and locations series displays, the richness of Rajasthan itself plays a character. The language, the royal palaces, highness, the ultimate finale Sangeet Samrat competition leaves you mesmerizing and when one sings with heart full of love, it rains, and it does. Watching a series on such beautiful rainy days only adds to the experience Bandish Bandits.
Bandish Bandits is a great getaway series from the genre of crimes, it is good to see a change with a Musical Web- Series full of Soul.
Bandish Bandits is a CLASSIC not to be missed.
PK Verdict: PLATINUM *****
