December 13, 2019
Ranu Mukherjee, Vishal Jethwa
Action , Crime
Mardaani2 is crisp, impressive and cut to the point from scene one and very relevant in today’s time where Rape is just not a Rape anymore, it’s gruesome bizarre where the motive is beyond the sexual satisfaction, killing humanity. One Nirbhaya leads to another, till Priyanka Reddy nothing has changed much looking at the numbers Mardaani2 displays on screen making it relevant.
The film begins at the Dassera Mela in Kota, Jishnu Bhattacharjee cinematography is brilliant from scene one when you witness the Magnum Raavana idol ready to be burnt you know what’s in the store. Gopi Puthran’s writing is crisp and so is the length of the film keeping it on the track. Although it takes few cinematic liberties, yet Mardaani 2 comes as quite impressive and keeps your interest high throughout.
Vishal Jethwa’s first film and his performance is no less than any ace actor; such a menace at this ease. Hat’s off to the casting director for bringing such a talent you would love to hate. Hoping he is not beaten up in the real life playing Sunny; that’s the magic of good cinema. Cinema that reflects society, it is quite painful to see that such characters coming from the real society killing humanity. Vishal Jethwa almost lives his character throughout at ease and ensures you hate him enough to Triumph the victory of Shivani Shivaji Rao bringing a thunderous climax.
Mardaani2 is Rani’s film. As Shivani Shivaji Rao she yet again shines and chases the challenges with a great will. Her interview in the film with Rajesh Sharma on television wins the round of applause in the theatre. Dialogues that drive people to clap, magic of writing is witnessed and when you see audience engagement at this level; you know what society wants as a whole. The show “Kadwe Sawaal” indeed leaves many such bitter truths that are yet find the wave of change in the real world. On the reel, Rani rolls it real well making very relevant “Rani”full cinema.
