When crisp writing marries stellar performances a film like “Judgementall Hai Kya” is born.
Comedy Jugdemental Hai Kya drives you crazy and makes it difficult for you to judge until you get closer to the climax. Truly a different take on the “who done it” genre with so much to observe, cherish and enjoy. It is a Dark Chocolate you Must have.
The film begins with the journey of a girl who sees life differently probably undergoing the currents we all go through but the capability of seeing what a naked eye wouldn’t is what Kangana also sees in her real life too than just as Bobby in her reel life in Judgementall Hai Kya. Her character comes quite close to what we see in her reality that is something many would claim calling her a true Mental seeing in this film – but we know she is a talent that no force can stop her, outdoing her own best each time.
Kangana brings you Bobby like no one else would. Her graph of character brings a great high when jaw dropping interval arrives. She plays a dubbing artist who is at her best and displays the craziness one would truly need to be an actor. These moments are brilliantly executed and add up some great laughs. Living by herself; Rajkummar Rao who plays Keshav comes as a tenant living in the same house along with his wife Reema played by Amrya Dastur. Kangana defines the House rules the way she define rules; bringing the dark humor. They unfold each other with great tongue twisters. You live with the curiosity Bobby lives by and all this is too much fun to watch.
While interval succeeds to drop your jaws with what you see. Soon after the interval; the makers leave you stunned again making you go nuts thinking what next you would unfold keeping it true to their tag line “Trust No One”.
Jimmy shergill comes as a director with his play Ramanayan 2.0 where Sita is in search of Raavan unfolding the layers of the film. Kanika Dhillon the writer of the film acts as Sita in the play echoing herself in search of Raavan. These are some great intellect writing layers that unfolds on screen and you see Kangana emerging as a Sita. This is where you may feel a little lost but Kangana with her sheer presence keeps you hooked on screen to unfold the mystery talking to her inner voices. The presentation of these inner voices is quirky, intellect and fun to watch making you live the madness Kangana lives. The presentation of a man holding One liner Placards is mind blowing showcasing the power of penned thoughts making the writing work, the mystery work. The mystery is dark yet chocolaty.
Rajkumar Rao as always stirs you with his performance keeping it deceptive. Kangana and Rajkumar are in the best face-off to watch to. Jimmy sheirgill has not much to add. Hussain Dalal is brilliant in his comic timing and comes as a great support cast in the film. Satish Kaushik and Brijendra Kala are good in their limited roles. Amyra dastur is easy on eyes.
It is Kangana Ranaut who gives a terrific performance as Bobby, absolutely stunning. Whether she succeeds to keep it deceptive or not for that you will have to watch this one.
