PK Verdict
Anand Rai’s
Colour Yellow Productions has a Midas touch. Everything they touch is gold.
Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi succeeds to entertain enormously phirse. Director wears
the trio hat of writing the screenplay, dialogues and direction keeping the
vision crisp and bringing a rib-tickler comedy onscreen with brilliant performers
and one liners that bring out loud laughs creating a euphoria of laughter in
the auditorium.

From where
they left to where they arrive is where the magic lies. Happy Phir Bhaag Jayegi
probably could be termed as the first Patriotic Comedy where humor doesn’t fail
to make you proud being an Indian without going overboard. No sooner the film
begins Usman Afridi and Bagga played by Piyush Mishra and Jimmy Sheirgill they
throw their first joke making you feel a proud Indian. From this moment till
the end there is a good humor that is in the favour of India pitted against
China and Pakistan in a much cleaner way. The journey begins in China hopping
over India keeping the essence alive of India in China as well through Jassi
Gill who plays Khushwant Singh Gill singing in the bar the classic nineties
number “Don’t say No” ringing in great laughters from that scene to whenever
you see him. He plays adorable role of the guy next door and the gets into the
cat-fight of Silver Bronze Gold between him and Jimmy Sheirgill amazingly keep
our interest high in the film.

The plot
remains the same this time it’s not just the runaway bride, there is a
kidnapped groom too, there is a mistaken identity mishap that leads to a
situational comedy layered under an emotional reasoning helping you connect
with the characters. Sonakshi Sinha delivers and all the characters in the film
too delivers. Jason Tham The Ghaziabad guy pun intended who plays Chang the Chinese
Don needs a special mention for carrying that face with a wit that is carried
by millions in China as per the film, his silliness also rings in the timely
humor. Diana Penty and Ali Fazal have not much to do in there extended special
appearances but one performance that becomes special is towards the climax at
the concert where superheroes come to rescue. Jimmy Sheirgill rocks the show
with his attire and his sudden YaaraOYaara moment makes you go crazy. He is a
terrific actor who can make you go wet under your pants playing Don and tickle
your funny bones with his sheer performance in comedies too. He along with
Piyush Mishra toplines the laugh riot of Happy Phir Bhag Jayegi making it a
must watch.

The plot of
the film doesn’t fade at any moment, no dull moment whatsoever, it brings in
the interval at the right junction raising the bar of interest in the film. It
is indeed the director Mudassar Aziz who continues to impress with his writing,
dialogues and direction. A real captain of the ship making us look forward to
the series that is in the making and taking the journey of Happy ahead. Third
one awaited.
