More and more directors are going stereotype claiming it to be there style. Nevertheless they do entertain but fail to offer anything new. R….Rajkumar is one such movie although set in current era without much definition yet the production and look and feel seems like you watching a bollywood cinema of 70’s or 80’s where Hero & Villain challenges each other’s Mardangi and all they do is woo the boo again and again.

The movie starts with a flashback where the Romeo is talking to the audience which leads to the climax. What happens in between these two beginning scene and the climax? Somewhere hero drops in …..some firing happening…..hero saves the dropped in heroine in the middle of the firing……Hero is on the mission of love at first sight. Screen moves slow showcasing the cupid strike moment. Scene Over. Up Next some song, some villain dropping in. Some more characters dropping in. They don’t take anything ahead; they need a story to take it ahead. So here it goes……The Villain takes alternate dupki’s in some holy water along with the heroine and yes you have the Indian Heroine all wet to set the villain and now villain is on the mission of love at first sight or rather say lust at first sight. That could be probably the innovative idea for the director. The Hero and the Villain both strike cupid for the heroine at the first sight. Hero works for the villain some network connection and realizes heroine loves hero open challenge with dialogues kutte kamine, saree utarna, etc etc with some more cheap lingo. Shaadi meri hogi, dulhan meri hogi mandap tera hoga etc etc similar cheesy lines you will hear from the heroine. Climax as anticipated or as experienced in bollywood cinema hero beats villain a too much action and “The End”.

Shahid kapoor is brilliant but seems to be deprived of good scripts coming his way. Although Ace Actor yet he is struggling. He is the only HERO of the movie where screenplay, script all goes fail. He emerges as an sole entertainer and manages to keep a smile on your face throughout. Sonu Sood is good his persona optimized and makes him a good bad man. Sonakshi Sinha for a change doesn’t just plays a prop unlike her earlier movies and has good screen presence filling the gap of the heroine. Rest of the cast except Asrani would not even get noticed. Music is full-on masala with few good peppy numbers and few silly numbers raising the length of the movie. Background score is good and right score does elevates the comic scenes.

Movie absolutely not recommended for classes, however, if one wanna experience what masses enjoy than this is it. Have it been some Salman movie this another brainless movie would have crossed records. Unfortunately Shahid doesn’t have much fan following and hence this may fall flat. Watch it only for Shahid Kapoor. Although stupid yet a nice silly entertainment.
