Rani Mukerji shines in a Yash Raj Film directed by Siddharth Malhotra. The hiccup is not regular it is Tourette syndrome this clarifies and justifies the Giant Hiccups you see Rani gets almost every time you see her on screen. Rani delivers a performance at ease that is challenging and doesn’t look neither easy nor heard easily. The film doesn’t have much hiccups than a big Tourette syndrome and Rani succeeds to make you gulp this down at ease with her sheer performance.
The trailer had actually given it all to what the film is about. Right to Education makes a path for the deprived children to a school that caters to elite. The deprived are further deprived of the acceptance from the fellow students this makes them rebellious throwing almost all the teachers their class is assigned; until Rani happens to them.
Rani who had been struggling since almost five years to get the job as a teacher finds one here. It is her determination and tolerance level, her approach and attitude that she is unshaken almost by anything the students would do to rag her and dispose her too like their previous teachers too. Rani echoes she is here to stay and she stays brilliantly maneuvering her students well. Her role is well written and comes as quite believable.
Though the film is adaptation of Hollywood film “Front of Class” yet the writing is crisp and keeps you hooked throughout. The drama most of the times remains to the plot revolving within the school taking you back to your school days. An ensemble group of children all together form a good supporting cast. Shivkumar Subramaniam as Principal has little to do. Neeraj Kabi leaves quite a good mark as competitive teacher and keeps good hiccups to Rani’s progress as a teacher making the journey challenging.
Hichki is hiccup less and a good dose of entertainment coming from YRF films. A decent Rani Graduation.
