Chennai Express – Ready Steady Po – Thrives you perfectly from start to an end in Rohit Shetty style. SRK after a long brings ‘The Adorable Rahul’ in him on Screen, his charm is something which ensures you have a smile throughout the journey.
It’s story of North meeting south accidentally. The journey is meant to be Mumbai to Goa and how it leads towards Chennai is something which leads to the title Chennai Express.
Deepika stunningly boards on Chennai Express in a DDLJ way followed by the blasting DDLJ Spoof tickling your funny bones. Here is where the fun begins.
Camaraderie between SRK & DP starts to begin and sparkle the screen. Poor Rahul is entrapped into a situation in this journey and goes with flow landing up somewhere in south with the high voltage drama.
Language adds up a spice to this laughing drama. It doesn’t create any roadblock for viewers, no there are no sub-titles yet you can make it out easily what‘s going on screen with a smile on your face. Perfect color correction showcases the lush green south soothing your eyes too apart from your laughing buds.
Screenplay could have been little stronger have it been the strong story. Repetitive elopes doesn’t bring any great humor yet it tickles you somewhere just because of the Rahul factor and well reciprocated Deepika.
The second half is little weaker –It doesn’t get better just stays there. One more elope and their return. Hero does some dialogue baazi, fights the evil and gets his girl and it’s over. Don’t underestimate the power of common man.
Towards the Climax, SRK claims India in its 66th year of Independence still reserves the girl’s freedom to choose her partner but he fails to understand Bollywood in its 100 years of Indian Cinema has failed to evolve the dialogue “ Mere maa-baap ek car accident main mare gaye”. But then, If it’s a Rohit Shetty film, it suits the best where cars like limo’s also bloat.
However, what saves Chennai Express to get derailed badly is of course the Trio SRK, Deepika and Rohit Shetty. Music is average. Rohit Shetty yet again delivers an entertainment for all the genres from masses to classes, a pure family entertainer.
If you board on this train you will surely reach the destination of some entertainment for you. Ready Steady and Go watch the movie. You will not be bored.
PK Verdict: Silver Plus (3.5***)
