War 2 – Death before honour!!!

The much-awaited War 2 trailer has finally dropped, and while the expectations were sky-high—especially with a director like Ayan Mukerji at the helm—it sadly falls short of delivering the adrenaline rush one associates with YRF’s spy universe.

Ayan Mukerji, known for his visual flair and dependable direction, may be steering a big ship here, but the trailer seems more like a misfire than a marvel. Instead of showcasing tight storytelling or high-octane sequences, what we get is a heavy reliance on AI-driven visuals and VFX. The trailer feels more like a rough concept reel than a finished cut. What’s even more baffling is the near-total absence of dialogue. Except for Ashutosh Rana’s one-liner—“This is war”—which feels more like a statement of the obvious than a dramatic punch, the rest is a montage of voiceovers and background score. There’s no narrative rhythm, no dramatic build-up—just a jarring compilation.

Hrithik Roshan continues to look like the action demigod he is, oozing style and intensity. Jr. NTR brings gravitas and screen presence, even without saying a word. But it’s Kiara Advani who unexpectedly steals the show. Fierce, elegant, and confident in her action avatar, she looks right at home in this high-octane setup. If the trailer is any hint, she might just emerge as the dark horse of the film and potentially carve her place in YRF’s spy universe, especially with yrf’s upcoming Alpha.

However, the trailer’s biggest flaw is its incoherence. Rather than building anticipation, it plays out like a fan-made teaser stitched together without any real sense of purpose or narrative clarity. One-liners from Hrithik and Jr. NTR fly around without impact as it is more of a narration, the visuals seem disconnected, and the overall tone is muddled. It neither excites nor informs—it simply exists.

The scale is evident, the stars are in top form, but the trailer does no justice to what could be one of the biggest cinematic face-offs in Indian cinema. One hopes the final product tells a different story—one with more depth, character, and coherence.YRF and Ayan Mukerji better be saving the best for the film itself, because for now War 2 – Trailer is Death before honour!!!

Anticipated PK Verdict: A modest Silver – 2.5 ⭐️s for the trailer.
