Sikandar –Mediocre !!!
Sikandar is everything you expect from a Salman Khan film—high-voltage action, emotional drama, and a larger-than-life hero. However, while it’s marginally better than some of his recent outings, it doesn’t break new ground and struggles to justify its runtime.
Director AR Murugadoss attempts to blend a Bollywood superstar with a South-style setup, but the result is a dragged-out spectacle that lacks finesse. The wafer-thin plot feels like an extended commercial for its core message, making the film more of a preachy slog than an engaging entertainer. The screenplay is sluggish, and without its slow-motion action sequences, the film could have been trimmed down to a sleeker two-hour runtime.
Salman Khan does well in his role, looking the part and delivering his performance with conviction. However, the script and execution let him down. The dialogues that worked in the trailer are all the film really has to offer—beyond that, it’s just another attempt to glorify its protagonist. The film lacks the signature humor and charm that Salman Khan usually brings, missing a crucial opportunity to entertain. His chemistry with Rashmika Mandanna feels bland and fails to evoke any real emotion. In fact, their on-screen discomfort is quite evident—particularly in a scene where she starts singing, and Salman silences her by placing his palm on her lips. The moment unintentionally became comic relief when someone in the audience shouted, “Thank you!”—a reaction that summed up the awkwardness. Rashmika’s dubbing also feels off at times, further disconnecting her from the character. Ultimately, the casting misfire is undeniable, and a stronger pairing could have significantly elevated the film.
The biggest issue with Sikandar is that it forgets its primary purpose—to entertain. The villain is forgettable, the supporting cast gets little room to shine, and the second half overstays its welcome. While the film delivers as a mass-market spectacle for Salman’s loyal fanbase, it offers nothing new to the larger audience. If you’re looking for a fresh or engaging story, Sikandar is simply more of the same. Plain, boring, and simply mediocre.
