PushpaTheRule – The Fool!!!

Sukumar’s Pushpa: The Rise was a thrilling spectacle, a perfect package of storytelling, performances, direction, and music that made it a masala blockbuster in every sense. Unfortunately, Pushpa: The Rule falls flat despite its inevitable box office success.

Filmmakers today seem more focused on crafting blockbusters than on the essence of cinema—the story. While the performances, particularly by Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil, are top-notch, the paper-thin plot leaves Pushpa stagnant. The film relies heavily on its grand scale and the celebration of Allu Arjun’s stardom rather than substance. As impressive as the performances are, how long can they carry a film without a solid storyline? After the interval, Pushpa collapses—and in spectacular fashion. PushpaTheRule is a blockbuster, yet undeniably lacklustre.

The storyline feels paper-thin and uninspired, relying heavily on Allu Arjun’s star power and charisma to carry the film. While his performance is undeniably commendable and occasionally elevates the narrative, even his presence cannot compensate for the glaring flaws in the screenplay. Fahadh Faasil, though brilliant in his limited screen time, is underutilized, and his abrupt exit from the plot feels both careless and frustrating.

With a bloated runtime of over three hours, the film drags post-interval, losing the momentum built in the first half. The grandeur and visual scale are impressive, but they only serve to mask the hollow core of the movie. The emotional depth and character arcs that made the first film compelling are largely absent, replaced by over-the-top action sequences and forced drama.

Pushpa delivers an exhilarating high at the interval, but leaves you wanting more as the satisfaction fizzles out before the climax. With a runtime of 200 minutes, the film attempts to sustain momentum, but the true pleasure is confined to the first half. While Allu Arjun transforms Pushpa into a visual spectacle with his powerhouse performance, it’s Fahadh Faasil who steals the show, effortlessly injecting humor and much-needed relief with his sharp wit and impeccable acting. However, his character is removed from the story with as little effort as plucking a fly out of a cup of milk.

The Dhai Akshar Pushpa Name secures the Dhai Ratings here, stating a dialogue, “Pushpa sirf naam nahi Brand hai Brand” evolving a film into a brand. And therein lies the issue—they focus less on the film itself and more on building the brand.

Ultimately, Pushpa: The Rule will give you an ultimate orgasm only to leave you dissatisfied offering you another one with its 3rdoffering The Rampage. Enough here is not enough.
