Param Sundari – A Visual Postcard!!!

Param Sundari is exactly that—a visual postcard. Written and directed by Tushar Jalota, the film plays it far too safe, never daring to evolve beyond formula. It’s the kind of movie you won’t regret watching on the big screen, but you also won’t carry it home in your heart.

At its core, the story is paper-thin: boy meets girl, boy chases girl. That’s about it. Though framed as a romantic journey, the film never truly immerses you in the emotions of love. Instead, it unfolds in a mechanical, predictable rhythm.

What keeps it afloat is the lead pair. Siddharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor bring a fresh, easy chemistry that feels unforced. Their playful banter and charming screen presence spark life into an otherwise flat narrative. Add the lush landscapes of Kerala as a backdrop, and the visuals often outshine the storytelling. The cinematography is rich—green hills, vibrant frames, and meticulous detailing make the film undeniably beautiful to look at. Costumes by Sheetal Sharma further elevate the leads, making them stand out with effortless style against the scenic frames.

The supporting cast is decent. Sanjay Kapoor is reliable as the father, Manjot delivers a decent turn, and Siddhartha Shankar shines in moments. But Abhishek Banerjee is criminally underused—his role lacks depth and feels abruptly abandoned, which is a waste of his talent.

On the plus side, the film features a few engaging musical numbers and a strong background score that prevents dull patches. Still, the pacing drags, making the runtime feel stretched. Jalota sprinkles in nostalgic nods to classic SRK romances, which fans may find amusing, though they never add anything new to the genre.

The biggest shortcoming is the lack of emotional depth. For all its pretty frames, the film never stirs the soul. The heart of a great love story is missing.

In the end, Param Sundari isn’t a must-watch, but it is a good watch. Go for the fresh pairing of Siddharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor—just don’t expect to be swept away.
