Durandhar – Aditya Dhar!!!
Aditya Dhar brings to the screen a warrior India will proudly root for. Durandhar is exactly what it promises to be — a powerful, immersive action thriller shaped by Dhar’s distinct style, narrative command, and technical finesse. With Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna leading the charge, the film storms ahead with unrestrained energy. And with Part 2arriving in March 2026, it’s reassuring that Dhar avoids cheap cliffhangers while still leaving us eager for what’s next.
Inspired by true events — from the IC 814 hijacking to the 26/11 Mumbai attacks — Durandhar crafts a gripping, emotional experience an Indian viewer won’t want to miss. Performances, writing, music, background score, and action design all come together seamlessly. At over 200 minutes, its length may raise eyebrows, but the film earns every minute.
Ranveer Singh is back, once again proving why he’s one of the most transformative actors of his generation. He slips into character like a chameleon, delivering vulnerability, intensity, and conviction — especially in foreign terrains that test his mettle. Give him the right director, and he outperforms expectations. Here, he shines brilliantly.
Akshaye Khanna, too, is a revelation. Watching Akshaye Khanna in Durandhar only reinforces one thing: he must grace the screen more often. His rare, carefully chosen roles leave audiences wanting much more. Thanks to Dhar for giving us Rahman, He taps into his menace, charm, and presence with masterful precision. Khanna gets to be stylish, intimidating, and unexpectedly entertaining — and his chemistry with Ranveer is electric.
Sanjay Dutt, despite concerns of overexposure in recent years, proves impactful in a limited but memorable Special Appearance. Dhar keeps Dutt grounded and effective. Sara Arjun, debuting opposite Ranveer, is confident, fitting the role well, and helping silence debates about the age gap with a screenplay that makes their dynamic believable. Though there are cinematic liberties in their romantic arc, it never derails the narrative flow.
Despite its hefty runtime, Durandhar never tests patience. Instead, it keeps you alert, invested, and eager to see what unfolds next. Dhar’s filmmaking style remains distinct — his heroic entries staged with retro flair, his carefully curated tracks enhancing engagement, and his on-screen display of key dialogues adding dramatic punch.
The integration of real footage is executed with precision, making the audience relive horrific historical moments and understand the stakes. One standout segment involves only transcripts flashing on a red screen — a chilling dive into the psyche of terror operatives. Dhar creates a cinematic atmosphere unlike anything seen before in Indian action thrillers. From Uri to Durandhar, he continues to raise the bar.
The supporting cast blends seamlessly into the larger narrative. R. Madhavan brings gravitas even with limited screen time. Arjun Rampal, impactful in the trailer, delivers strongly in the film as well — hinting at a potentially bigger role in Part 2. Rakesh Bedi surprises with a layered performance far removed from his usual comic roles. Danish Pandor and Mashhoor Amrohi also leave a mark, contributing to the film’s overall intensity.
At its core, Durandhar Part 1 belongs to Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna. Both deliver exceptional performances that anchor the film. It’s especially refreshing to see Ranveer back in full-fledged actor mode.
Durandhar stands tall — a testament to one man’s vision and his ability to assemble a stellar cast that delivers at every turn. Aditya Dhar is, without doubt, the real Durandhar here.
