A Wedding Story – Not a Delight!!!

Abhinav Pareek’s “A Wedding Story” opens with a Passage from Garuda Purana, where we have this versus on “ Panchak” that forms the premise of A wedding story to bring in some spooks – calling the Haunted Shaadi, alas the film itself turns out to be haunted lacking entertainment, more than sending shivers down the spine of fears, it sulks your spine into your seat out of boredom.

There is a death in the family and there is one Obnoxious kid who doesn’t want to listen anybody, his irritation lands rightfully making us live the torture A wedding story turns into. The only saving grace is some beautiful shots, the location and the lead cast. Vaibhav and Mukti do their best in this dead wedding.

Vaibhav Tatwawadi shines in his role, his character too is named Vicky and there is once you hear “Vicky Please”. Vaibhav has sincere screen presence, he brings depth and sensitivity to his character. His portrayal of a man caught in the situation is both compelling and heartfelt. Mukti Mohan delivers a strong performance, balancing the emotional weight of her character with grace. Their chemistry feels genuine, however, it is the writing that is lethargic and doesn’t let the film excel.

The film’s rushes were interesting but unfortunately the film falls short in delivering a compelling narrative. Despite a promising premise, the film struggles with execution, making it a rather underwhelming experience. It fails to introduce any fresh perspectives or engaging conflicts, relying instead on tired tropes that do little to keep the audience invested. The script is riddled with superficial dialogues that lack the emotional depth needed to connect with viewers on a meaningful level. Abhinav Pareek seems to struggle with balancing the film’s tone, resulting in an uneven narrative that lacks the impact it aims for. The pacing is sluggish, with scenes that drag on without adding much to the story. The film tries to delve into the emotional turmoil of its characters, but instead, it comes across as monotonous and unengaging.

The film is orthodox and backward in its approach, leading viewers to believe that what is portrayed is the reflection of the passage in Garuda Purana. “A Wedding Story” ends up being a disappointingly mediocre film. It squanders its potential with a lacklustre script.
